"The Foundations of Vertical Water Training - The Kopansky Method Pre-Requisite Course and the Group Aqua Fitness Specialty Training and Certification Course have been launched in Ontario and Alberta thus far. All other provinces continue to use the CALA Combined Foundations of Fitness Theory and Aquafitness Leadership Training Course, Part 1 & Part 2. Any person who has completed the CALA Combined Foundations course, is not required to complete the Vertical Water Training Course or the Group Aqua Fitness Specialty Course."

Responsibilities:
We are looking for individuals who love to swim and work with children for our 14 conveniently located pools around Calgary. The Swim Instructor is responsible for conducting and developing program and lesson plans for swimming instruction at all levels. Instructors evaluate students' performance and maintain records of performance and attendance. They also ensure compliance with safety procedures and deal with patrons' questions and concerns regarding swimming lessons. In addition to a competitive wage, this position offers training, flexible hours, and a fun and friendly atmosphere

Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and hold a current (with at least six months remaining) Red Cross Water Safety Instructor award and/or Swim for Life/Life Saving Instructor Award. Six months experience as a Swim Instructor is desirable. These positions also require well-developed customer service skills.
Note: Proof of Swim Certifications must be included with application/ resume.

Hours of Work: Vary and are dependent on program registration/attendance. Programs are offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings on weekdays and weekends. Applicants can teach more than one class and at more than one location.
Responsibilities

Experienced aquatic fitness instructors teach a variety of fitness programs which may include the following: aquacize, deep-water running programs, etc. Primary duties include:
- planning and leading registered and/or drop-in fitness programs;
- teaching specific skills to participants through progressive physical fitness development and sharing of knowledge;
- planning and implementation of quality fitness programs;
- assessing participant needs and providing adaptations as necessary;
- ensuring safety of participants;
- preparation and maintenance of equipment, supplies and facility;
- maintain program records and assist with program evaluation;
- maintain high degree of customer service.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have current Standard First Aid Certification, CPR Level "C" (must be renewed annually). Aquatic Fitness Instructors require current AFLCA certification or an equivalent.
Competencies for this position include:
- demonstrated skill, knowledge and proficiency in area of
instruction;
- excellent communication skills and positive representation of City recreation programs;
- demonstrated initiative, planning and organizational skills;
- ability to adapt to changing needs of program and/or participants;
- sound judgment in safety standards.

Okotoks Aquatic Centre is currently entertaining new contracts for Aqua Fitness Instructors. We are looking for several individuals who wish to teach classes on a contract basis. As part of the Aquatics team, you will be required to deliver high quality aqua fitness classes to our patrons. Classes we provide include:

Gentle Aqua fit
Pre and Post natal
Mom & Baby Fit Together Aqua fit
Deep water workout
Tethered Aqua Fit

Eligible applicants must be 18 years of age, current CALA certification preferred but will consider other certifications until training is complete.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are a must.

Wage: $25.00 Per Hour
