CALA Gives Back

Give back so that others can benefit
CALA members and leaders are giving back. As leaders we give our knowledge and skills to others so that they can improve their lives through Aquafitness. Our participants come to class not only to exercise in the water, but also to get educated on the benefits of water exercise. The class starts with the greeting of participants and knowing each as individuals. By knowing the participants we are able to monitor each to ensure no harm comes to them during the class. We are also able to challenge those who want more from the class.

By giving back our members and leaders acknowledge there are many ways to help others outside the pool. Everyone can benefit from participating both in the pool and volunteering and participating in fundraisers.

CALA supports and participates in the Big Brother Arthritis Swim.

The Arthritis Society launched a national fundraising event, The Foresters BIG Swim for Arthritis, set to hit pools across Canada. Swimmers can train for distance swims, participate in aqua fit or swim laps while raising funds to support The Arthritis Society.

Encourage your facility to participate in this great event.

Cancers below the waist often do not get the awareness they deserve. People seldom talk about cancers where the sun don’t shine out of fear or embarrassment. North York General Hospital is telling everyone to shed those fears!

Get involved with North York General Hospital’s campaign for cancers below the waist at the 2009 Underwear Affair.

By participating in this event, you help raise money for an acquaintance, a friend, a loved one, or simply a stranger who has been impacted by cancer.  Proceeds raised are directed towards North York General Hospital’s Cancer Care Program a major focus of our community teaching Hospital.

Join the Underwear Affair by registering at www.uncoverthecure.org.

Take part in something that will make a difference, get involved in MS Society fundraising events.

Take time to participate in numerous Breast Cancer Fundraisers. Run for someone who can't. If you can't run then walk or find another way to participate.

Take time to volunteer with challenged children at Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation. These children love to have fun. In the water everyone is an abled-person.
