"The Foundations of Vertical Water Training - The Kopansky Method Pre-Requisite Course and the Group Aqua Fitness Specialty Training and Certification Course have been launched in Ontario and Alberta thus far. All other provinces continue to use the CALA Combined Foundations of Fitness Theory and Aquafitness Leadership Training Course, Part 1 & Part 2. Any person who has completed the CALA Combined Foundations course, is not required to complete the Vertical Water Training Course or the Group Aqua Fitness Specialty Course."

 Pictures-Exercises

Mix and match your arm and leg movements to create variety in your class.  Keep them guessing. Work the mind not just the body.

A Tethered Workout

Add intensity to your workouts by:

  • Tether your participants to lane ropes or each other
  • Adding power moves (arms and legs)
  • Varying the lever lengths
  • Varying the tempo
  • Create routines that require directional change
  • Do moves that require the participant to travel forward
  • Use water running intervals with other exercises between intervals
  • Remember to stretch at the end of the session
  • Consider timed intervals using moves other than running
  • Use moves that require the participant to perform vertical and horizontal exercises
  • Use a variety of arms utilizing all directions
  • Include some propulsion moves
  • Include routines that challenge the participants thinking skills
