"The Foundations of Vertical Water Training - The Kopansky Method Pre-Requisite Course and the Group Aqua Fitness Specialty Training and Certification Course have been launched in Ontario and Alberta thus far. All other provinces continue to use the CALA Combined Foundations of Fitness Theory and Aquafitness Leadership Training Course, Part 1 & Part 2. Any person who has completed the CALA Combined Foundations course, is not required to complete the Vertical Water Training Course or the Group Aqua Fitness Specialty Course."

It is important for both the participants and instructors to dress appropriately for safety and functionality.

Instructors

  • Unbreakable water bottle
  • Safety mat
  • Music box
  • Towel
  • Keep on hand personal medical history, that might be needed in the event of a medical emergency
  • Music CD and (bring backup music on tape to use if the cd players is not working)
  • Contact phone numbers that participants my need (ex: swimwear stores or other instructor numbers)
  • Aquafit footwear
  • Clothing to cover legs and torso
  • Chair for demonstration purposes
  • Any other equipment used in the class

Participants

  • Good support swimwear
  • Towel and shower accessories
  • Leave all jewelry at home
  • If you must wear jewelry, make sure it will not come off/break in the pool. If it does it may not be able to be retrieved. Pools may not have time before the next pool scheduled session to look for it. Also many small items may enter the drains long before you realize they are missing.
  • Medical history (that may be required in a medical emergency)
  • Bathing cap (to keep hair out of drains)
  • Tie hard back in an elastic 
  • Refrain from wearing hair clips as they fall out in the pool and enter the drains or people are injured by stepping on them
  • Ear plugs (if required to lessen the volume of music or keep water out of the ears)
  • Water shoes for hygiene and to absorb rebound impact in shallow water
  • If you get cold easily, you may want to wear shorts, leggings, t-shirt or a cap
  • Flotation belt for deep water class
  • Lock if required for lockers or coins for lockers
  • Class pass if required for class
